Non-dual Poetry Sharing and Creative Writing Techniqu

  • Wild Words SY8 4DS (map)

You are invited to bring a poem or short piece of creative prose (fiction or non-fiction, of a maximum 300 words) to read in the group. It can be one that has been written by another person or one that you have crafted yourself. We will discuss each offering and Bridget Holding – an editor of Rupert Spira’s You Are The Happiness You Seek – will facilitate a playful and profound exploration of word-crafting techniques.

The objective of this group is to share beautiful words that take us to a place beyond words. We will revel in the paradox of the way words both limit and free us. We will look at how word-crafting techniques can enable us to use words in the service of ‘truth’.

This regular monthly online group takes as its touchstone the philosophy of non-dualism in both eastern and western traditions.

The only prerequisite to attend this monthly group is a love of words and a passion to explore what is beyond them.

This group is for the sharing of creative poetry and prose, so direct teachings or inspirational quotes per se are excluded.

Word-crafting techniques will include narrative structure, sensory impressions, body sensations, emotion, point of view, characterisation, setting, voice and dialogue.

The numbers attending this group vary quite widely. Participants are invited to read in the order in which they booked for the session. If it’s a large group there may not be time for everyone to share writing. Equally, the running time of the group may be shorter if there is a small number of participants.

You’re very welcome to come and just listen, rather than offer a piece of writing, although when the group is small enough everyone is asked to bring themselves in by very briefly introducing themselves.

Booking closes two hours before the start of the session.
